Get Ready for the Fall Mentoring Program - Applications Due August 15

Background:

In 2015, CARAS began a mentoring program to help connect graduate students and early career professionals working with and/ or researching alternative sexualities with researchers, faculty, and professionals. The goal of the program is to encourage the full development of the next generation of scholars, researchers, and professionals—and thereby increase the quantity and the quality of scholarly and research projects focused on discovering and illuminating alternative sexualities, communities, and family structures, and to help prepare professionals in mental health and other fields serve the needs of members of alternative sexualities communities.

The CARAS Mentoring Program involves a six-month one-on-one mentoring relationship. The program matches graduate students and early-career professionals in academic, research, counseling, and other alternative-sexualities related career paths with more advanced scholars and professionals; mentors and mentees commit to talking at least once a month by email, Zoom, or phone during the six-month duration of the mentoring program.

The CARAS Mentoring Program also organizes a monthly “Group Mentoring” meeting where any CARAS subscriber can attend and talk about the current issues facing the field and how to navigate the field.
