Webinar Abstract

This webinar is focused on how to develop a proposal for conferences or other training events that meets standards used by the American Psychological Association (APA) for granting continuing education (CE) credit for psychologists (these CE credits may be used by other healthcare professionals also, depending on licensure requirements). Criteria used by APA that are addressed in this webinar are generalizable to many other disciplines and academic-professional presentation venues.

We will also discuss the forthcoming CARAS Conference: Leather Kink Research and Clinical Knowledge (C2C) - East. The C2C “East” will be held in Cleveland, Ohio over Easter weekend 2023, April 7-9. 2023 - proposal submissions are due by Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe APA standards and guidelines that are relevant to instructors who are developing educational events that will convey continuing education (CE) credit.

  2. Describe Bloom’s Taxonomy and its relationship to the development of adult education.

  3. Apply criteria for behavioral learning objectives to cases in alternative sexualities education.

About the Presenters

Robert Bienvenu, Ph.D., CIP, RAC, is a sociologist with over twenty years of professional experience in research, research management, bioethics, and regulatory affairs. He has taught related courses from the undergraduate to the doctoral level. His research has focused on health, and the history and social organization of kink communities. Rob is a co-founder of CARAS and serves as CARAS Executive Director.

Carolyn Meeker, Ed.D, SHRM-CP, is a subject matter expert in career development and experiential learning with 21 years of professional experience in higher education. She currently is Director of Experiential and Career Education at a private college in Florida. Carolyn also serves as the Director for the CARAS Mentoring Program (where she started as a mentee) and is the Coordinator for the CARAS C2C conference. In addition to her interests in adult learning, Carolyn’s research has focused on identity, feminism, and learning within the BDSM community.
